AsiaPOP Comicon Manila celebrates the creativity and talent of the Filipino artists with multi-awardee comicbook illustrator Lan Medina gracing this year's event.
Lan is the first Filipino artist to win the prestigious Will Eisner Comic Industry Award in recognition for his work on Fables (for Best Serialized Story/Vertigo-DC Comics). The Eisner Award is the industry's equivalent to Oscar. In 2007, he was one of the awardees in the Glyph Comics Award (Fan Award for Best Comic).
Widely renowned for his memorable run on Fables, Lan was also recognized for his pencils on Aria and Stone (Image Comics) and later on Foolkiller, Deathlok, Venom Carnage, Cable/Deadpool, District X, Silver Surfer and the Punisher for Marvel Comics.
Lan has also worked on Aquaman, Deadman: Dark Mansion of Forbidden Love and currently on DC Comics brand new adventure from the pages of Aquaman in her own title for the first time ever, MERA, Queen of Atlantis. Bleeding Cool says of Mera's debut: Medina's artwork is strong, and Ocean Master in particular looks stunning in this comic.
